© k.rasche (BMI) never seen a leaf crash heavy they all fall gentle by design what luck, getting let down easy talk about a damn good way to die nail the landing and say goodbye four seasons make a year here not one sneaks in by surprise the days they fade to night and the fires get burned inside talk about a damn good place to lay on the floor there fireside my north peninsula i feel inclined to pretend it's all picture perfect winter it's my home where the wise dress warm we know this to be true; the next few winters here will be cold too it's not freezing unless you're freezing winter gives all its moves away so if you're caught by surprise in december snow and ice talk about a dumbass reason to whine my north peninsula i feel inclined to defend our picture perfect winter it's my home and the wise dress warm we know this to be true; the next few winters here will be cold too finding tracks in the snow beneath the white moon glow gone if not for winter sawing shoreline wood in our fox fur hoods gone if not for winter all the sunburned chins, and the slush-soaked mittens gone if not for winter all the ice glass waves, and the dune sled races gone if not for winter burning wood inside as the blizzard whines and whines gone if not for winter

Black Ice 03:50
© k.rasche (BMI) you know it was never really mentioned one word about a last goodbye you and me, we were off in our directions not lost, but it was love alright and yet i’ve no regret but i won’t forget honey, how bout you? i didn’t know we were slipping baby til our tail was spinning wild our love hit that black ice oh i can see it now i didn’t know we really had it baby til it all came to an end we weren’t meant for forever just one hell of a way back when how many songs from brokenhearted folks mourn the one that got away you and me i think we’re on to something darling nail the high note and leave that stage and yet i don’t forget still no regrets honey, how bout you? i didn’t notice we were burning baby til our flame had flickered out our love froze to black ice oh i can feel it now i didn’t know we even had it baby til it all came to an end we weren’t meant for forever just one hell of a way back when our heads never left their perch over our heels maybe that’s the time to take a dive before it gets real but if we weren’t growing together we sure spun a wicked wheel some love needs to leave to be revealed I didn’t know what we were sipping baby til our love was blacking out poured one more over black ice we smiled and took em down now all that i remember is we had it baby and without some awful end we weren’t meant for forever just one hell of a way back when

© k.rasche (BMI) there’s more to find at lower tide when the moon has swept the seas aside on the bottom there the treasures bare where depths have held them ageless there when our tired eyes finally meet and the day has culled our quiet peace i’ll frisk the night and find your hand my pearl there in the dampened sand there’s swing beneath the willow there’s a cool side of the pillow there’s an artist spinning all this on a wheel home is not a statue it’s an evolving work of art and for me my darling you are where it starts love it changes as it goes on the wind it’s written as it blows it crashes waves and soars the kites it’s chaos curled in sacred flight there’s a front yard swinging tire there’s a hearth under the fire there’s an artist calming all the water here home is not a harbor it’s a river through the heart for me my darling you are where it starts every frame here dangling in the foyer from these walls made of wood and brick and mortar just portraits in the sand still our home is where we stand there’s a candle in the window there’s a light that shows the safe road there’s an artist folding all this into one home is not a fragment it’s the sum of every part for me my darling you are where it starts
